Digital Signature
The introduction of Windows XP made it possible to give executable files a digital signature. This was introduced to ensure that any changes made by third parties would not go unnoticed. CDMenuPro's menu application has a digital signature.
When an executable file is started using auto-start, the operating system opens a message window that provides information as to whether the manufacturer is known or not. To provide this information about the software's manufacturer, however, a valid digital signature has to be present.
