Link objects - shortcuts

Link objects have the same properties as buttons, but without their visual characteristics.

Link objects are introduced to make creating menu bars and pop-up menus easier. In addition to this, it is also possible to create a link object and then to link the corresponding button with this link object for functions that are used frequently.

If several similar menu projects are created that use same-name files or same functions, it is also possible to copy the file containing the link objects (LinkObj.ini) from an existing project into a new project. This can make things considerably easier and shorten project development times.

Administrating link objects
Choose "Objects - create/administrate link objects" from the Editor's menu bar or click on the corresponding symbol in the tool bar. A dialog window containing a list of all link objects is opened.

Defining new link objects
In the link object dialog window click on the button marked "New" in order to define a new link object. The same dialog window for defining a button is opened, but without the settings for the visual properties. You will find more information about this on the following page: The buttons

Editing link objects
Select the desired object from the list of link objects and then click on the button marked "Edit".

Deleting a link object
Select the desired object from the list of link objects and then click on the button marked "Delete".

Creating link objects to complex objects

A number of objects require an assistant to complete the linking process, these include the search assistant, Flash movie assistant and the copy assistant etc. Because the assistants always create a button, you can proceed as follows:

• Call up the integration assistant that you require, make the settings and create the button.
• Select button.
• Select "Objects - create / administrate link objects" or click on the corresponding button in the tool bar.
• In the link objects dialog window click on the button marked "insert selected button". This serves in creating a new link; the settings of the previously selected button are adopted.
• Exit the dialog window.
• You can delete the button that was created temporarily afterwards.
